New Wave has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of slavery and human trafficking, and we adhere to the UK’s Modern Slavery Act 2015.

We are committed to ensuring modern slavery has no place in our business, including our supply chain. We work only with responsible suppliers who operate ethically, complying with national and international laws, and aim to build maximum transparency within our supply chains. Prior to trading, all suppliers undergo a thorough supplier approval process.

Most of our suppliers are UK-based, reflecting our priority to source fresh, locally and seasonally where possible. This relatively short supply chain minimises the risk of modern slavery in our business. However, we do consider modern slavery to be a fundamental issue and take it very seriously. We source a number of imported products, such as our prawns, swordfish and tuna, from overseas. In all cases, the farms and processing plants we source from are BAP (Best Aquaculture Practices)-certified. All certified bodies must pass tests on social accountability (including modern slavery and prevention of child labour) and employee health and safety, as well as the quality of goods produced, animal welfare, environmental and waste management, food safety management, and traceability.

Internally, we have robust people policies and standards in the workplace to ensure compliance with legislation, fundamental rights, and personal health and safety.

No modern slavery has been identified in our internal operations nor are we aware from our audit and verification processes of any in our supply chains. We will continue to monitor the effectiveness of our existing controls internally, and review annually what improvements may be made to strengthen our auditing and verification procedures.
